The Apple watch is expected to be upgraded later this year. Competition from the Wear OS is getting more intense. When it breaks cover, it will be competing with the other two watches, as well as a bunch of WearOS 3 watches. It will be difficult, but Apple is still in control of the Wearables market.

There are rumors about Apple's hardware lineup ahead of the big fall event. The Apple Watch Series 8 has gotten the short shrift compared to the iPhone, but here is everything we know so far from Apple and third-party sources.

There were rumors that Apple was working on a squared off design for the Apple Watch. The launch of the Apple Watch Series 7 didn't go as planned. There might have been some truth to the rumor. ShrimpApplePro shared a report that Apple would include a flat display for the Series 8. It is possible that the company will bring the same look to the Watch as the MacBook Air and Pro have.

Heard from source today that there is a flat front glass display for apple watch display. High chance that this is the front glass for the Apple Watch Series 8. Haven’t heard any on how’s the redesign housing nor which model yet.

The Apple Watch will be available in three different sizes for the first time in a long time. There is a 41mm and a 45mm Series 7 watch. The Series 8 may come with a 47mm watch with a 2-inch display according to display analysts Ross Young and Jeff Wu.

The Series 8 will be powered by the new WatchOS 9 update which adds more watch faces. The new focus mode features will allow you to tie certain watch faces to choose focus modes. The Apple Watch will be more personal this fall.

Enhancements to the fitness and health features will be seen with the addition of a new medication app and updates to the workout app.

Jeff Williams, Apple's COO, said at the launch that users around the world love Apple Watch for helping them stay connected to those they love, be more active throughout the day, and better manage their health. This fall, WatchOS 9 takes the Apple Watch experience to the next level with scientifically proven insights across fitness, sleep, and heart health, while giving users more creative ways to make their Apple Watch their own.

Hardware and sensors

The Watch Series 8 will have a compass, gps, a blood oxygen sensor, an electrocardiogram, and more. There have been reports that Apple was testing a bloodglucose sensor, but it seems unlikely for this year. According to a report, Apple will bring the temperature sensor to the Series 8 this year, despite the fact that it was not ready for next year. It is more likely to show up than it was earlier in the year.

Mark Gurman said that the chip used in the Apple Watch Series 7 will be the same as the 8.

The S8 chip will have the same specifications as the S7, which was also the same as the S6, for those hoping for a faster chip in this year's Apple Watch. The models of next year will get an all-new processor.

Gurman reports that Apple is bringing a rugged Series 8 edition and a low-end Apple watch. The Apple Watch SE would bring the new S8 processor but little else as far as we know. It is up to Apple to fulfill their promises of a larger display, better sleep tracking, and an always on display for the Watch SE 2.

Those who like extreme sports will love the rugged Series 8. This would be the first time that Apple would be releasing a rugged device.

The Series 7 is expected to be the same price as the Series 8. It will start at $400. Apple usually launches its Watch alongside the iPhone in September, so that's when we'll see it. We would expect an announcement in the fall as production allows.
