The two matches that produced the amazing total of 187 goals are being investigated by theSLFA.

The Kenema-based Kahunla Rangers and Gulf FC of Kono defeated their city rivals in the second tier on Sunday.

Kahunla walloped Lumbebu United 95 0, and Gulf FC thrashed Koquima Lebanon 91 1.

The first half scores were just 2-0 and 7-1, and both results have been thrown out because of suspicion of match manipulation.

"We can't stand by and watch an embarrassing situation like this happen," said the president of the SLFA.

We are going to launch an immediate investigation and bring to book the people responsible for this.

The people found guilty will be handed over to the anti-corruption commission.

The general manager of Lumbebu said he was not aware of any match manipulation.

The chairman of Koquima Lebanon claimed that the match with Gulf FC was a friendly.

The Eastern Region Football Association will be investigated by the SLFA.

In compliance with the rules of world governing body Fifa and the Confederation of African Football, the organisation maintains zero tolerance against match manipulation.

Goals flow after half-time

Both Kahunla and Gulf FC had the same number of points going to their final round of matches and were fighting for Eastern Region's remaining place in the national Super 10 League which serves as the final qualification phase for the premier league.

The referee of Gulf's game refused to work the second half of the game and was replaced.

When it became apparent that the team with the better goal difference would go through, things went from bad to worse.

Eric Kaitell, the chief executive officer of Kahunla, criticized his team and others involved in social media.

Kaitell wants to apologize to the football fans in the country and the world for the result of his club.

I strongly condemn the unsportsmanlike behavior shown by my team and the other teams involved.

Whoever is found wanting will be dealt with according to the committee I'm setting up.

'I'll never be part of match fixing'

In the absence of their substantive coach, the general manager of Lumbebu stood in as their coach.

He protested his innocence after his side had three men sent off in a 95 0 loss.

Jalloh doesn't know of any match manipulation but can't vouch for others.

In the second half, we gave up a lot of goals. I left the touchline at one point because I was angry. I can't tell you how many goals we conceded because I wasn't focused after.

I won't be involved in match fixing.

I'm calling on the football authorities to look into both matches and book anyone who is wanted. If no one is found guilty of a crime, so be it.

The chairman of Koquima Lebanon said the result against Gulf FC was from a friendly game.

The league match between the two clubs did not happen, according to the coach.

It was an encounter between players in the community, including some Koquima players, which was held to entertain fans who had bought tickets to watch the match.
