Cassidy Hutchinson said that Trump tried to grab the wheel and lunged at the agents.
Tony Ornato was a White House official.
Ornato has a history of lying for Trump, according to two former officials.
Two former White House aides said that the Trump White House official who is denying Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony has lied before.
In her testimony to the select committee investigating the Capitol riot, Hutchinson, a former top aide to former White House Chief of Staff MarkMeadows, said that Trump became angry when his Secret Service detail refused to let him join his supporters marching on January 6, 2021.
According to Hutchinson, Tony Ornato, the White House deputy chief of staff in charge of operations, told her that Trump lunged at the Secret Service agent after trying to grab the wheel of the presidential SUV.
According to Hutchinson, Ornato said that Trump yelled "I'm the effing president, take me to the Capitol now."
According to USA Today, Ornato is going to say a lot in his testimony to the committee. According to an unnamed Secret Service official, Ornato denied telling Hutchinson that Trump lunged at a Secret Service agent.
According to USA Today, Ornato plans to say that it was true that Trump wanted to join those marching on the Capitol, but that he never lunged at or tried to grab the steering wheel.
Peter Alexander of NBC News reported that the former president never lunged for the steering wheel and that the man who was attacked by Trump was ready to testify under oath.
The two former White House officials criticized Ornato, saying he has lied before.
"There seems to be a pattern of conversations that are inconvenient for Tony and then he comes back and says that they never happened," Troye told USA Today.
It speaks to Tony's character and credibility if he has a history of doing Trump's bidding and denying it to protect him.
Tony Ornato lied about me as well. I told Mark and Ornato that the press needed to be warned before they cleared the square. "We aren't doing that, we're doing something else."
Tony said the exchange didn't happen. He's aware that it did.
Hutchinson told the January 6 hearings that Trump wanted to join his supporters marching on the Capitol on January 6 because he wanted to give another speech outside the complex. The mob marched on the Capitol after Trump's speech.
The former Secret Service agent told Insider that it would be difficult for Trump to grab the wheel of the presidential SUV.
Trump is not a small guy. The space to lunge towards the wheel is small, according to the former agent.
The former president would not be able to get to the steering wheel due to his large body.
The representatives for Trump did not reply immediately.
