Manchester United are unsure of whether or not their star player will join them on their tour of Thailand and Australia on Friday.

The club have accepted that the 37 year old did not report back to training due to family reasons.

He wants to leave United if there is a suitable offer.

Instead of rejoining his team-mates on Monday, he has been staying at Portugal's training base for the last few days.

Cristiano Ronaldo led his team-mates on a lap of honour post-match
Portuguese football expert Pedro Sepulveda says a desire to win another Champions League is the main reason behind Cristiano Ronaldo's desire to leave Manchester United.

Pedro Sepulveda is a football expert from Portugal.

Last Friday,Ronaldo was in Lisbon. He has many apartments in Portugal, but he is staying in a hotel and training all day in the complex where the Portuguese national team trains. He does his training on a daily basis. He went there alone on Friday and Saturday. Some young Portugal players were the subject of some pictures taken by him. We thought he was going to Manchester to take part in pre-season training but he has some personal terms to take care of.

The big question is whether or not he will stay in Lisbon and take care of these things or if he will fly to Manchester to be with his team-mates and wait to see how the future goes for him.

I think he will stay in Lisbon for a few more days and that he will be moved to another city by the end of the week.

There aren't a lot of teams that can give a contract to a player. There aren't a lot of teams who can compete for the title. You have a club that says thatRonaldo is not part of their project. Barcelona can't compete with Real Madrid in Spain. Real Madrid doesn't want a player likeRonaldo anymore.

"England is the only place where I could see some opportunities, but can you imagine someone wearing a shirt that isn't Man United?" Is he on a different team? We know that the new owner of the club had a conversation with the manager of the team.

He already has a lot of money and I don't think we need to discuss the financials. The project is more important than the money. It's not possible forRonaldo to play a season forSporting Lisbon right now. One of the best players in the world is still alive and well. He is doing what he did before. I don't think it's a good idea for him to be in Lisbon at the moment. He will only leave for a club that can compete in the European competition. The desire to play in the U.S. is something thatRonaldo has as well. It is a possibility in the future but not right now. The teams are fighting for him.

Will Ronaldo stay or leave United?

Speaking at the beginning of June,Ronaldo said he was very happy to stay at United and predicted they would rebound from a terrible season in 2021.

The Portugal captain has changed his mind. Sky Sports looked at why he might leave.

He returned to Manchester last summer and scored 24 goals in 38 games to become the club's top scorer.

The campaign in front of goal was a disaster for the team. For the fifth year in a row, United did not win a trophy.

It is understood that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner wants to leave the club for a second time due to their failure to qualify for the competition.

As United's players look to impress new bosserik ten Hag ahead of their premier league opener againstBrighton on August 7 on Sky Sports, the future ofRonaldo is now an unwanted distraction.

Dan Sansom talks about the reasons for and against him leaving this summer.
