Ian Poulter will be able to play in the Scottish Open after an appeal against his ban was upheld.

Next week's 150th Open Championship will be held at St Andrew's.

The players were barred by the European tour because they joined the Saudi tour.

"I am disappointed by the outcome, but I willabide by the decision," said the chief of the World Tour.

"This is only a stay of the sanctions imposed, pending the hearing of the players' appeal as to whether those sanctions were appropriate," he said.

The field size will increase beyond 156 if the make-up of the field is advised.

We will make further comment on this in the future, but not during our time at the manor.

A charity Pro-Am event will be held at the Irish venue that will be the site of the 2027Ryder Cup.

The suspension of Ian Poulter, Adrian Otaegui and Justin Harding have been temporarily stayed, pending determination of their substantive appeals by an Appeal Panel.

In a radio interview, he said he was fighting for his right to play golf and that he had taken legal action against his ban from the Scottish Open.

He said that he has been committed to the European Tour since the beginning.

Today, it is still there. I could have earned more FedEx Cup points if I'd played more in America.

A number of people have been suspended by the PGA Tour for signing up to the LIV project. The Scottish Open is a co-sanctioned event between the American circuit and the world tour.

I am offended that I have been suspended from playing golf on the tour that I have been on for 24 years.

The players were suspended for playing in the opening events. The first was held at the Centurion Club in Hertfordshire and the second was held in Portland, Oregon.

Waivers were not given to their players to compete in these tournaments. Many have signed lucrative contracts with the company.

Players knew there would be consequences if they chose money over competition, according to a statement released last Friday.

At the time, many of them accepted that. One player said in a media interview that he would be banned if they banned him.

Some people are surprised by the actions we have taken.

The European Tour rebels who played the opening event were hit with fines of over one hundred thousand dollars.

We didn't know what the consequences would be. We knew there would be some form of action, but it was never spelled out to us.

I've been allowed to play all over the world without sanctions. I missed playing Colonial. It was okay. This is not.

I missed many family moments because of my commitment to golf.

At 46, the game isn't getting easier, so why wouldn't I take it?
