At least six people were killed and two dozen were hospitalized after a rooftop shooter opened fire at a Fourth of July parade in the upscale Chicago suburb of Highland Park. Spectators scrambled for cover after the shooting.
At a press conference on Monday, local police said they were working with state and federal law enforcement officials to find a white male with long black hair and a small build who they said was between the ages of 18 and 20.
People were told to stay indoors while law enforcement searched for the shooter.
The city of Highland Park said on its website that evidence of a gun has been recovered. Several law enforcement officers responded and secured a perimeter around the downtown area.
Anyone with video from the parade is urged to give it to police.

The Fourth of July events in other Chicago suburbs were called off due to the Highland Park shooting.
