Donald Trump insisted on Monday that the "Unselect Committee of political Thugs" should go after people who burn down cities.

A weekly series of mass shootings, many involving assault-style weapons, appears to be the major crime issue in America. There were more than 250 mass shootings in the US in the first half of the year.

The Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois, was attacked by a shooter who killed multiple people and injured many others.

Trump urged members of the House select committee to go after people who have been rioting, burning down cities, leading the massive crime wave, and killing many all over the U.S.

Trump seems to be rattled by the thought of facing criminal charges himself, which could emerge from the House panel's televised hearings, and his posts seem to be an effort to direct focus away from the violence of January 6, 2021.

Police officers were injured in the storming of the Capitol. Over 800 were arrested and charged with crimes including assault, using a deadly weapon, destruction and theft of government property, and seditious conspiracy. There were costs and damages of over three million dollars.

In another post, Trump mocked the criticism he has received for urging his supporters to march to the Capitol in January.

Fight on, America, fight on! I apologize. They will use the word fight to say I'm inciting an insurrection. I'm sorry!

Cassidy Hutchinson, who was an aide to former White House chief of staff MarkMeadows, testified last week.

Under oath, Hutchinson said that Trump insisted on dropping security screenings for his supporters, who were known to carry weapons. Trump said that they were not going to hurt him. The mob called for lawmakers to be dragged through the streets and viciously attacked police officers.

As more damaging testimony emerges, there is a chance that the Justice Department will charge Trump with a crime.

Liz Cheney said that the select committee could make criminal referrals to the DOJ about Trump. A majority of Americans think the former president should be charged for his involvement in the insurrection.
