Joey "Jaws" Chestnut ate 63 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to win the annual Nathan's Famous Fourth of July hot dog eating contest.
Miki Sudo downed 40 wieners and buns to win the women's title after skipping last year's frank fest because she was pregnant.
Outside Nathan's flagship shop in Brooklyn's Coney Island neighborhood, the contest returned to its traditional location. The event was relocated due to the coronaviruses epidemic.
"It's great to be back here, in front of a lot of people," Chestnut said after his victory.
I was in the zone for a while. The pain slowed his pace in the 10-minute competition.
He topped his own record by eating 76 franks and buns.
After setting the women's record at 4812 wieners and buns in 2020, Sudo took last year off while pregnant. She and Nick Wehry became parents to a son, Max, on July 8, 2021. The baby watched his mom win her eighth Nathan's win.
She wanted him to someday take a message away from it.
She said she wanted to set an example to do things that she loved and push herself to her absolute limits. You could come out victorious.
While Wehry was trying for the men's title, Sudo took over parenting.
Nathan's donated 100,000 franks to the Food Bank.
