Juan Soto left the Washington Nationals game against the Miami Marlins on Sunday because of a calf injury.
Soto said everything was fine. We're going to be good. It's just a little tight, so we're going to take a few days to see how it goes.
He said he was going to take it one day at a time.
The catcher felt something tighten up behind his left knee and in his calf after he made a throw in the third. He ran the bases and got into a rundown in the fourth.
"I just take the decision to pull out of the game and make sure everything's okay before I keep going and make it worse," he said. You want to stay in the game. I want to be out there and I want to give my best.
On Sunday, he had a hitting streak of eight games. It makes sense for the Nats to be careful with the face of the franchise, who they are trying to sign a long-term contract with.
Teammates were worried about how he would do, but he is already showing some improvement.
"Today I feel better, and I hope I feel better tomorrow as well, and we take it from there," he added. I'm just going to look at it.
The Nationals open a three-game series at Philadelphia. The right-handed pitcher was placed on the injured list with a stress fracture in his shoulder.
After starting Saturday, Tetreault couldn't lift his arm high enough, so he decided it was time to speak. He had worse news than Soto.
He said he would rather get this fixed than continue to pitch with it and possibly hurt the team. This is for the best and I want to be out there.
