Kevin Ford worked for Burger King in Las Vegas for 27 years, never missing a day of work. Management scrambled to find a present to thank him for his hard work after he arrived at work on the 27th anniversary of his employment.
A string backpack, a movie ticket, lanyard, coffee cup, and some candy are included in the present.
Ford posted a video of him opening the gifts and thanking his coworkers on TikTok and it quickly got thousands of views and likes. He received a small reward after many years of loyalty and some viewers online expressed shock at the small reward he received.
On the back of the video's success, his daughter set up a Go Fund Me page to raise money for him to visit his grandsons.
My dad is in that video. Ford has been working at his job for 27 years and has never missed a day of work, according to his daughter.
Ford began working the job as a single father and has continued to work there because of the company's health insurance package.
She wrote that her father is coming up on retirement age and that leaving would cost him his retirement.
The page raised over $329,000 and was still rising when it was published. David Spade donated $5,000 and sent a message to Ford on social media.
Another doner said to enjoy your retirement.
Ford was flown to New York to appear on NBC's Today show and was able to see his children for the first time in a long time.
Ford told Fox11 Los Angeles that he hadn't seen his grandsons in four years when he saw them live on TV.
He said he was crying live on TV to see his grand babies.
Ford doesn't plan to retire or take a day off for a vacation despite the money from the GoFundMe page.
"You never know, it's day to day but I haven't thought of anything to do with that money except to visit my grandkids for a while and maybe put some up for their college," he said. I'm just working.
