Gabriel Jesus signed a long term contract with Manchester City.

The fee for the 25-year-old is believed to be £45m and he moves to the Emirates after undergoing a medical. The No 9 shirt will be worn by Jesus, who is the son of Jesus.

They worked with Jesus' representative to make sure they were in a good position to get him from City. He is the fourth new signing of the summer for the club.

The transfer of Gabriel is great news for us. Gabriel Jesus has qualities that everyone knows about.

We have admiredGabriel for a long time. He is an established Brazil international who has consistently shown that he is a player at a very high level. Ahead of the new season, we expect him to join his teammates. We are all happy for Gabriel to join the team.

Mikel Arteta said he was excited. A player of this stature has been recruited by the club. We all know Gabriel from his time in the premier league and his success here.

Mikel Arteta, Jesus's assistant when he was at Manchester City, would often offer individual coaching and advice when he was an assistant to the boss.

The chance for Jesus to assume more responsibility and the fact that they were desperately in need of an attacker appealed to him.

The addition of Jesus and the extension of Eddie Nketiah's contract means that the north Londoners have options in the centre-forward role.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was allowed to join Barcelona on a free transfer on Transfer Deadline Day last January, as well as Arteta letting Lacazette leave the club at the end of June.

Jesus said it was a pleasure to play for Manchester City.

Winning 11 trophies has been amazing, and I feel like I am a better player now.

My four premier league titles are very special to me.

The manager, my team-mates and the fans have supported me over the past five-and-a-half years.

Is Jesus the right fit for Arsenal?

Alan Smith works for Sky Sports.

There is a big potential for Mikel Arteta to get better, even though this is not the finished article that he is buying.

Arteta is trying to build a profile for him in the squad.

Arteta has a squad of young players that want to achieve in the game and that hunger is important for him because he wants to prove himself after being in and out of the Man City team. He will be the same.

You can't get hold of a lot of things that cost more than 100 million dollars. A lot of the top clubs are after a player like that.

I think Jesus is a good addition to the team and I think Arteta is doing a good job.

More from former Gunners striker Alan Smith: "It's definitely a coup for Arsenal. Jesus committed his best years to Arsenal.

"The good thing about Arsenal's recruitment now is that they are signing players without too much media fanfare. For example, we did hear about Jesus but when we did hear they were already quite far down the line in terms of securing his signature. "Then there was Fabio Vieira from Porto. Nobody saw that one coming either and the best recruitment teams at clubs are able to do that. They do a lot of work behind the scenes, maybe even six months to a year in the build-up to signing a player, but they do it without too much fanfare or drama. "That points to a department of the club that is really functioning well and it's really encouraging that they have got that side of things working well because it was a bit of a mess a few years back. Now Edu and Arteta are on the same page, they agree what is needed and that relationship is vital."

'Arsenal in for a good season'

Sky Sports analyst Paul Merson.

Jesus is the biggest. Merson is a big fan of him. He was used in a lot of big matches byPep. He would like to score goals.

Everyone misses chances. He's definitely one of the players who are not scared to get back into the box when they miss a chance.

I like the way the team got that over the line. They are in for a good season. They will be competing for fourth place with Man United and Spurs. They have a chance of getting some silverware this season if they can get into the playoffs and have a good run.

I like what the Artetas are doing. They have to get in the top four.

Will Gabriel Jesus thrive away from Man City?

"Gabriel Jesus is a player who has a lot of talent and a lot of potential, but he needs to have more playing time in order to gain confidence."

The best version of Gabriel Jesus is when he is motivated and playing well.

It's hard for Gabriel to have stability when he's out of the team. It will be hard for that to change at Manchester City.
