The British army's official social media accounts were hacked on Sunday. It was reported by Web3 is going great. Both accounts were compromised in order to promote two different cryptocurrencies.
The army's verified account was briefly changed to look like a page for The Possessed, a project involving a collection of 10,000 animated NFTs with a price floor of 0.60 ether. Multiple links were sent out by the account to a fake website. It is possible that the hack is part of a larger campaign. A verified account that was hacked to promote a NFT scam using The Possessed brand was warned by the project's official account.
The army's channel is now a page for Ark Invest. The channel is streaming videos of old footage of Musk and other people talking about cryptocurrencies. The clips are promoting a scam called Double Your Money. A similar scheme netted 1.3 million dollars in May. Who is behind the attacks is not known.
An army spokesman told The Guardian that there was a violation of the army's social media accounts. The issue is being resolved and we take information security very seriously. It would be inappropriate to say anything more until the investigation is done.
The British army has not been the target of a hack. Yuga Labs is the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection. The project's official account on social media was compromised in a scam. The BAYC community has been the target of two separate phish attacks.
