More than $215 million was invested in startups on equity crowdfunding platforms this year through the end of May, up from $200 million in the same period last year. A total of $502 million was raised by crowd funding campaigns in 2011.
While that isn't too big of a leap, industry players are encouraged by the growth and see scope for more improvement late in the year.
