The most recent episode of The Boys was one of the best of the season so far.
The scenes with Black Noir were more interesting than the one with Herogasm. Sometimes I prefer this show when it goes off the rails in less explicit ways.
In episode 7 of Black Noir, here comes a candle to light you to bed. The surprise twist that Soldier Boy is actually Homelander's dad was one of the highlights of the episode. Butcher and Hughie are going to have Soldier Boy help them kill Homelander, but I guess you never really know with these psychos.
The best part of the episode was seeing Black Noir in his new place of business, a children's pizza restaurant. This kid-friendly eatery was the subject of a fake ad by Amazon.
It seemed like a weird joke when it was released. The Black Noir's inner child is a big part of the show.
Black Noir is always surrounded by these characters. They talk to him all the time. The supe's inner dialogue is now available to us. He has a bunch of cute cartoon animals with him.
In the 7th episode, they reveal what a violent bully Soldier Boy was to Black Noir, giving Noir a reason to help the Payback team get Soldier Boy. He learns why he is terrified of his former leader.
The fact that Homelander has never been a violent bully to Black Noir explains his loyalty to the new man in charge.
In any case, there is a very brief post-credits scene that once again features these adorable little creatures and if you enjoyed the Black Noir scenes, you might want to check it out.
Before you read this, please be aware of the following:
I can tell you what happens if you don't want to fire up the episode again. It is not a lot.
The entire cast of cartoons heads out on stage holding hands and bows their heads. It is just a curtain call and it is fun.
