WhatsApp could let users hide their online status soon

Are you tired of people bothering you on the phone? You will soon be able to use the app without anyone knowing.

The developers of the popular messaging app are working on a feature that will allow users to hide their online status. A more stealthy way to use the app could be achieved if the little in-app indicator was turned off.

This goes hand-in-hand with another recent round of privacy updates on the messaging service, which included the ability to dictate who could see you when. If you mirror that list to your online status, the same people you trust to see your last seen indicator would be the same people you see when you use the app.

There are many applications for this feature. Sometimes you would like to log into a service without others knowing. Maybe you don't want to talk to anyone and you just want to check the message log, or maybe you're trying to avoid an annoying family member. It was a surprise that the app didn't have the ability to use stealth mode.

This feature needs to be added to every other app.
