It's my duty to remember and share things from the past since I'm no longer young. Without an active internet connection, most software worked well.

It's difficult to believe. The 1990s and early 2000s were considered a novel state by computers. A lot of software doesn't work if you don't use it. If you want to get work done on a plane or visit a family farm, this is not a good idea.

If your job involves responding to people in real time, it's impossible to do offline. If you have things that work offline, most jobs can be done at a computer. This is how to work offline in a world that is always connected.

Determine which apps work offline.

The first thing to do is find out which tools rely on the internet and which don't. If an app runs in your browser, it's probably not going to work offline.

There are a few exceptions If you install a chrome extension, the drive can be offline. Most of the applications in your browser are designed to work with internet connections, so you can't rely on them if you need to work offline.

Messages can't be sent or received while offline, that's one thing to remember. Most of these applications don't allow you to read old messages while offline, meaning you won't have access to important information buried in aDM.

If you don't sync your files to your computer, you won't be able to access them offline. If you want your files to be sync to your computer, you have to use a cloud service. Other people only sync files that are in specific folders. If you need access to files, make sure they're marked for offline sync.

If you don't know if something will work offline, you can turn off your computer's internet access. It's frightening. After five minutes of trying to work, you should have a good idea of what you can and can't do.

It is possible to copy information that you need.

It's time to plan now that you know which apps will not work offline. Is it possible to work on a project completely offline? What information do you need to complete the project? If some of the information is on an app that won't work online, make sure you have all the information.

If you need to read or edit a document, make sure you download it to a folder on your computer. If there's a crucial piece of information hidden in a conversation with your manager, make sure that it's copied locally. I like to use note-taking apps to copy important pieces of information from one page to another for a project. Working offline forces you to be organized, instead of assuming you'll find it later.
