The Utah Jazz traded Rudy Gobert to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Kevin Durant, who was then checked in on by the Minnesota Wolves.

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the T-Wolves made several calls to the Nets about KD, but since they were unwilling to include Karl- Anthony Towns or Anthony Edwards in offers for KD, nothing ever came of the discussions.

The Wolves agreed to send four first-round picks, including Walker Kessler, to Utah in exchange for Gobert, according to reports.

In Gobert, the Wolves are getting a three-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, giving them one of the most dominant frontcourt duos in the league.

The T-Wolves were able to retain their backcourt of Edwards and D'Angelo Russell, giving them one of the NBA's most talented starting lineups.

If the Wolves could have gotten it done without giving up Towns or Edwards, it would have been even better.

KD asked for a trade out of Brooklyn, according to Rich Kleiman, his business manager.

The request came after Irving decided to opt into the last year of his contract with the Nets.

The two superstars signed with the Nets in hopes of winning multiple titles, but things haven't panned out as planned.

KD missed most of the year because of injury, while Kyrie missed most of the year because of injury. The Nets lost in the first round of the playoffs in 2020-21 and were knocked out in the first round this year.

When healthy, the 12-time All-Star averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebound and 6.4 assists per game, but he missed 27 games due to injuries.

While with the Golden State Warriors, he won two titles and was named NBA Finals Most Valuable Player, making him more attractive to teams on the hunt for a title.

It's hard to fault the T-Wolves for wanting to keep their young core.

Towns is a three-time All-Star at 26 years old and perhaps a top-three center in the NBA, while Edwards is coming off a career year that saw him average 21.3 points per game.

It would have made the Wolves instant championship threats, but they would have had to shorten their window as well.

The Miami Heat or the Phoenix Suns are rumored to be on KD's wish list of teams to be traded to.
