The Cosmic Girl, a modified Boeing jumbo jet, lifted off from the Mojave Air and Space Port in Southern California at 1:49 a.m. on Saturday. The rocket was tucked under one wing.
Cosmic Girl headed west and then southwest until she reached a zone west of the Channel Islands. LauncherOne was dropped at 2:57 a.m. by the plane. At an altitude of about 10,000 meters. The first stage of the rocket's engine began to power it's way to space.
The rocket is used for satellite missions.
And there we have it, folks! We've just heard from Mission Control that *ahem* NewtonFour successfully reignited and deployed all customer spacecraft into their target orbit. 👏July 2, 2022

It was the fourth successful launch in a row, following satellite-lofting missions in June and January of this year. A May 2020 test flight was the company's first attempt at a launch.
Saturday's mission was the first night launch for the Virgin Group. This time, the company didn't have to operate in darkness, but they wanted to get some experience doing so.

Virgin Orbit's liftoffs have all been from the Mojave Air and Space Port, but the company plans to launch from other locations soon. Virgin Orbit is getting ready for a launch in England. Hart said that the mission, which will be the first ever from the UK, is on track to lift off in September or thereabouts.
Some of the satellites that went up on Saturday were different. The Adler-1 will be studying the space debris environment in order to improve models. The little satellite will be operated by a company in Virginia.
SatRevolution supplied two satellites, called Stork 3 and SteamSat-2. SatRevolution's Stork constellation of Earth-imaging satellites will be joined by two new satellites.
There are two tiny cubesats that are part of the ELaNa program. One was developed by the Langley Research Center in Virginia and the other by the University of Colorado.

The first track off Mike Oldfield's 1973 album "Tubular Bells" is the title of the June 2021. You probably know that song better than the movie's theme.
Virgin Galactic is a part of the Virgin Group and uses an air-launch strategy. Air launch gives customers more flexibility and responsiveness than they can get from traditional, vertically launched rockets.
