YC makes a Product Hunt, Product Hunt makes an a16z, a16z makes a YC

Tech innovation is a cycle in the world of early-stage venture capital.

The most recent proof? Launching YC is a platform where people can sort startup by industry and launch date. Users are invited to vote for new companies to help them climb up the rankings, try out product demos and learn about the founding team.

Product Hunt, a platform that is synonymous with new startup launches and feature announcements, is being taken a not-so-subtle jab by Y Combinator.

Lindsay Amos, the head of communications at Y Combinator, told me over email that they encourage YC founders to launch on a number of platforms.

It isn't isolated. Product Hunt is making an investment by an angel investor. A16z is creating its own company.
