Boulter lost to Tan in the third round of Wimbledon.

The 25-year-old world number 118 was trying to become the third person from her country to make the last 16.

She was defeated 6-1 by Tan in 51 minutes.

Next, Tan will face an American opponent.

Boulter's hopes of a dream run ended

Boulter, the British number three, said she was taking inspiration from the success of the two teams.

She fought back tears as she said that her grandmother died two days before her comeback win.

Her hopes of a fairytale run deep into the tournament at SW19 came to an abrupt end on court two as Tan extinguished the Briton's bid for a first Grand Slam fourth-round appearance

She made just five unforced errors as she romped into the last 16 on her Wimbledon debut.

She won her first three Tour-level matches for the first time on Saturday after upsetting world number 45 Sara Sorribes Tormo in straight sets.

An audacious between-the-legs shot demonstrated Tan's increasing confidence and kept her in a rally in which she had appeared on the backfoot, before she broke Boulter to close in on victory.

Boulter's double fault gave Tan her third break of the set.

The home favourite made 21 unforced errors in her second-round display.
