It has taken nearly two years for you to get a graphics card. We fought against an army of bots to navigate the buggy websites of retailers who didn't have enough reason to care.

Yesterday, I did something that had never been done before. After the weekly drop at Best Buy, I went to the website eight hours later and bought an RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition.

I had a similar version in my cart. When we checked back this morning, the two of those graphics cards were still available. As I type, the 3070 FE is there. The 3070 Ti is also called so. You can get the Radeon RX 6750XT, 6900XT, and 6950XT in stock at the store.

I ran the numbers on eBay to see the true street price of a graphics card. This week is when the most popular graphics cards hit the MSRP on the secondhand market. The price of the RTX 3080 is the same as when it was first announced.

The street price of a modern graphics card has fallen in half. Since January, almost every graphics card we track on eBay has fallen in value.

The RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080 were the most popular and best bang for your buck cards. The 3060 Ti is the only used graphics card that can't be had at a lower price. The price of an average card will be less than the MSRP.

The secondhand market seems to be a good place to buy more expensive graphics cards. eBay buyers get an average of $318, $466, and $540 off of the prices of the 3080 Ti, 3090, and 3090 Ti, respectively.

The great shortage of graphics cards is over.

Is it a good idea to purchase one? The forces that are driving supply and demand are not all in your favor.

Why you might or might not buy a GPU right now

Two years has passed since the chips that power these graphics cards were manufactured. In October 2020, $500 might have been a great price for an RTX 3070, but is it still a great price in July 2022. The RDNA 3 is expected to offer significant performance jumps this fall.

If you look at one of the cards that were introduced later in the shortage of graphics cards, you will see that they are not as good as they could be. I recommend taking a look at this handy 3DCenter / VideoCardz chart of how much graphics cards should cost

If you are considering a used graphics card, it is important to remember that it may have already been worked for two years and spent time in a mining rig.

GPU flood is here.

The market cap of allcryptocurrencies has fallen by two-thirds since its peak last November due to the flooding of the market with cards that are no longer profitable. Miners have been using different types of machines for a while.

Whether it was used for gaming or mining, there have been reports of damage to graphics cards among the flood. There is a video that can walk you through potential red flags if you get the chance.

Would you rather have a new one or a used one? Things aren't as rosy outside of Best Buy, because you're going to have to deal with the desire of the board partners and retailers to make as much money as possible now that they have inventory to clear

In the company's last earnings call, the CFO suggested that supply was close to catching up to demand. The inventory of channels has almost normalized, and we expect it to stay around these levels in the second quarter. According to sources in the supply chain, the two companies are trying to order fewer cards from TSMC because they think they have too much.

Based on one week, June 23rd to June 30th.

According to Wccftech and VideoCardz, the launch of the RTX 4090, 4080, and 4070 will be late in October, November, and December. It might be longer before the current-gen RDNA 2 or RTX 30 series are able to see a price reduction.

Best Buy is stocking third-party RTX 3060 Ti cards that cost substantially more than the more powerful RTX. There are plenty of options if you want to buy a card with a fancy cooler for twice the price.

Instead of droppings, they're still trying to attract customers with sales, like EVGA's anniversary sale today where an RTX 3080 can be had for only $80 over MSRP and both the 3080 Ti and 3090 Ti are under MSRP

Yes, I actually bought it. My friend’s been looking for a while.

It sounds like those price cuts might be coming if you are a person who will be satisfied with a current-gen graphics card. It's not hard to see room for the rest of the prices to go down.

It depends on whether the prices they were waiting for have come back. Anshel Sag believes they will. He tells me that people who held off on building PCs or buying graphics cards will start to build them now that prices have come back down.

He doesn't think people will stay away from gaming because of inflation or waiting for the next-gen graphics cards. For a lot of these consumers, this is their primary source of entertainment and socializing, so they understand that the newest and greatest will be a lot harder to get their hands on.

The shortage of graphics cards is over, according to him. The prices tell their own story.
