The CEO of Meta-formerly- Facebook is ready to take action against slackers at his company.
During a Q&A session with Meta staff, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he was turning up the heat on performance goals.
He wants the pressure to make them leave rather than having them fired. In order to encourage them to leave on their own, he told them that "some of you might decide that this place isn't for you, and that self-selecting is fine with me."
There are a lot of people who shouldn't be at the company.
The CEO's attention is definitely on Meta's own problems, given the massive economic slowdown and the fact that it's on his radar.
He said that this might be one of the worst downturns in recent history.
Chris Cox, Meta's chief product officer, warned in a memo on Thursday that the company will need to be leaner, meaner and better executing.
Amazon, Microsoft, and others are bracing for tough times ahead, cutting hiring targets, and laying off workers.
As of late, Meta has had to reduce its expenditures. Meta has faced financial challenges in its efforts to establish the metaverse, a gamble that hasn't paid off so far.
