The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a three-year, $25.5 million contract with forward Kevon Looney.

He has been with the Warriors for seven years and will be a starter for the first time in 22 years. He shot 57.1% from the floor and averaged 6.0 points, 7.3 rebound and 2.0 assists.

The Warriors reduced Looney's minutes in the playoffs. In the regular season, he played 21.2 minutes per game, but in the playoffs, he played 20.4 minutes per game.

He told reporters that he would be ready to play. It wasn't that big of an adjustment for me because my role doesn't change a lot.

Despite playing fewer minutes, Looney was a key part of the Warriors' title run, averaging 10.6 points and 10.6 boards per game in the Western Conference Finals, and pulling down double-digit rebound in five games in the posteason, including a career-high 22 to close out Memphis in

His future in Golden State is in question because of the lessened playoff role and the expected return of James Wiseman. The Warriors are getting more expensive with each passing season, and Jordan Poole is set to sign a massive new contract after his performance in the playoffs.

While his minutes were valuable, he was also the most expendable member of the Warriors' rotation.

Golden State's ownership group has always been willing to spend a lot for a contender. If it all ends in a ring, the return on a reasonable contract will cost the team more in cash than it will actually make, but it will be worth it.
