The Boston Celtics have acquired a player from the Indiana Pacers.

The full terms are here.

  • Celtics get: Malcolm Brogdon
  • Pacers get: 2023 first-round pick, Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts and Juwan Morgan

The Pacers gave a number of teams the impression they would pursue a trade of the 29-year-old during the off-season, according to a report by NBA insiders.

After signing a two-year, $45 million extension with the Pacers in October, he was not allowed to be moved during the next two seasons.

After spending the first three years of his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks, Malcolm Brogdon has been in Indiana for the past three seasons.

During an injury-plagued 2021-22 campaign that saw him play just 36 games, the Virginia product averaged 19.1 points, 5.1 Rebounds and 5.9 Assists.

The Pacers didn't make the playoffs for the second year in a row. Indiana is trying to build for the future, and the Atlanta native didn't fit in.

The Boston squad is looking for the last piece of the puzzle. The Celtics made it to the NBA finals but lost to the Warriors.

He won't be asked to carry the load in Boston despite his ability to score consistently. While he was the Pacers' leading scorer in the last two seasons, he will have to fit in with the other players.

His contract has three years left to run.
