There has been a lot of activity at the White House. The recipients of the Presidential medal of freedom were announced today by President Biden. Steve Jobs has died.

The CEO, co-founder, and chair of Apple died in 2011. According to the White House website, his vision, imagination and creativity led to inventions that have changed the world.

The highest honor that can be given to civilians in the US is the Presidential medal of freedom. It is presented to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States.

Megan Rapinoe is an advocate for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and queer people.

The president named seventeen recipients. Father Alexander Karloutsos, Sister Simone Campbell, Fred Gray, Diane Nash, Megan Rapinoe, and Alan Simpson are recipients.

On July 7th, the awards will be presented at the White House.
