On Tuesday night, more than a half dozen GM Cruise robotaxis shut down at the same time on a San Francisco street.
GM employees were able to manually move the vehicles away from the scene of the incident. It's hilarious, but also shows how important the remaining liabilities are to the future of self-drive vehicles.
A number of Cruise cars seem to be blocking several lanes of a major thoroughfare for a couple of hours according to the user who shared the images.
One user said it was a pretty strange event. The cars had to be taken away by humans.
One joked that they are unionizing.
There was an issue that caused some of our vehicles to cluster together.
They apologized to anyone who was affected and said it was resolved.
There have been some strange encounters on public streets after the introduction of robotaxis. In April, a video showing confused San Francisco police officers pulling over a robot taxi went viral.
These growing pains are nothing new. As they push for a self-driving future, tech companies like Cruise orTesla have a lot of issues to iron out.
Fortunately, no one got hurt this time.
The San Francisco street was blocked for hours by a robot.
GM's robotaxis are collecting fares without a safety driver.
