The White House said Friday that President Joe Biden awarded a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom to Steve Jobs, the co- founder and former CEO of Apple. The Presidential medal of freedom is given to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors.
One of the biggest companies in the world has been founded by Jobs. He helped launch many tech products that have gone on to become cultural icons. On October 5th, he passed away.
Jobs described himself as "disappointed" with the president in his biography. Jobs said that he was having trouble leading because he was reluctant to offend people. I never had that problem.
The White House said that Jobs was praised for his creativity. The White House stated that Steve Jobs was the co-founder, chief executive, and chair of Apple, Inc., CEO of Pixar and held a leading role at the Disney Company. His vision, imagination and creativity led to inventions that have changed the world in many ways.
The award will be given on July 7. The recipients of this year's Presidential Medal of Freedom include John McCain and Megan Rapinoe. The full list can be found here.
