The FCC gave the go-ahead for Starlink to be used in a vehicle after it received approval Thursday.

People can take their Starlink internet with them wherever they go. It would void the warranty if it was used in a moving vehicle.

The FCC gave approval to both companies.

The grant states that they agree with the public interest in granting with conditions their applications. While on the move, whether driving an RV across the country, moving a freighter from Europe to a U.S. port, or while, a new class of terminals will expand the range of broadband capabilities to meet the growing demands of users."

Starlink's Portability feature allows users to temporarily move their Starlink to a new location in order to receive service anywhere in the world. The Starlink Availability Map shows the active coverage areas.

If you want to take Starlink with you on a boat or to another country, you'll have to change your registered address.

The FAQ page of Starlink says the service is provided on a best effort basis, with speeds not guaranteed, and warns moving users that they can expect lower service levels than those who stay.

If you bring your Starlink to a new location, it may result in degraded service at times of peak usage or network congestion.

The median download speed in the US increased by 38 percent in the first quarter of this year, which is at least looking up.

Adding Portability to your Starlink account will cost you an additional $25 a month. Do you think it's worth it?
