After contracting the COVID-19 virus, Dr. Fauci experienced a sharp rebound of his symptoms.
Fauci, the infectious disease expert and adviser on the nation's COVID-19 response, told a health summit on Tuesday that he was put on the antiviral drug Paxlovid when his symptoms got worse.
The 81-year-old said he tested negative for three days after the five-day treatment, then tested positive again.
According to ABC News, Fauci said he was tired but was well. During the Paxlovid rebound, he felt badly. He said he was taking a second course of the drug.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned the medical community to be aware of a possible return of symptoms after recovering from Paxlovid rebound.
Fauci did not catch the disease before.
I'm protected by the vaccine. He spoke to the White House on June 23 after falling ill. If that weren't the case, I would probably not be talking to you right now.
