The speaker of the Mississippi House said that a child who isimpregnated by a family member should have to be carried to term.

The press conference was held after the reversal of the abortion law. The Supreme Court overturned the right to an abortion because of a Mississippi law that banned the procedure after 15 weeks of pregnancy. There are no exceptions for pregnancies resulting from incest or rape.

He was unsure of what the Legislature's appetite would be for adding such an exception to the law.

The reporter asked if he thought Mississippi's legislature should take another look at the matter, to which he replied that he didn't think so.

Life begins at conception. Every life is worth something. He said those are his own beliefs.

A reporter asked if a child who was molested by her father or uncle should have a baby.

"My personal belief is that life begins at conception, that's what I believe," he said.

He wanted the day to be about reversing the decision.

There has been an end to abortion in this country. We can talk about moving forward with these other things that are being talked about. He doesn't want those things to detract from the significance of the day.

Thetrigger law will take effect in Mississippi next week after the attorney general certified it. All abortions are banned if the mother's life is in danger or the baby is the result of a rape. An exception for incest is not included.

Conservatives have always preferred exceptions for rape and incest. There have been exceptions to the abortion ban for cases of rape, incest and harm to the mother, but that appears to be changing.

The governors of Oklahoma and Nebraska have come out against such exceptions. Most of the 13 laws will not include exceptions for rape or incest.
