Udonis Haslem was a priority for the Miami Heat in free agency, even though he no longer makes a lot of on-court contributions.
Tim Reynolds @ByTimReynoldsTo show his continued importance and value to the franchise, the Miami Heat sent a delegation of employees to make a free agency pitch to Udonis Haslem promptly at 6pm tonight with hopes of luring him back for Year 20.
According to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Heat visited Haslem at his vacation home.
Haslem has been with the Heat for 19 years and has been a part of three NBA titles.
In the past few years, the center has seen his playing time dwindle, appearing in just 13 games over the course of the next two decades. Over the last six seasons, he has made just 58 regular-season appearances.
It was Haslem's leadership in the locker room that kept him on the roster. The organization gave him the green light to keep coming back after he re-signed with the team.
According to Winderman, Haslem will be allowed to retire on his terms.
Haslem needs to decide if he wants to return for another season. He said he needed to speak with Pat Riley and Micky Arison about his future.

Thursday's demonstration showed that the Heat want Haslem back, even if he doesn't want to.
