The price of one of the most important materials used in solar panel manufacturing has gone up in eight months, just as demand increases.

Polysilicon, used in solar panel production, rose nearly 5 percent in cost on Wednesday, marking the highest price in over two years. Demand for solar panels has gone up as companies try to reduce their dependence on fossil fuel. Several manufacturers are either on downtime or shut down for maintenance, which causes a shortage.

The costs of solar panels could go up in the third quarter because of the materials cost, and because profit margins have already been cut thin, and some projects have been canceled completely.

Rock, Meet Hard Place

The US is stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to energy consumption.

Costs for renewable energy may go up in the coming months as a result of high gas prices. California is trying to get its energy grid to 100 percent clean, and countries like Norway are still building wind farms to power oil and gas production.

Do you think the bottom line is correct? We need to get more serious about making renewable energy affordable and accessible to everyone in order to reverse or stop climate change.

The Supreme Court gave power plants green light topollute as much as they want.
