Ingles tore his knee while playing for the Utah Jazz in a game.
He was sent to Portland by the Jazz as part of a three team trade. Utah got Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
The deal was for salary purposes.
After eight years in Utah, Ingles was traded to Portland.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, part of the vision for the organization was to build around the player.
The long-term direction of the Blazers could be determined by this important off-season. Nassir Little and Anfernee Simons were able to extend their contracts. In February, Cronin traded away the backcourt running mate of Damian Lillard.
The long-term status of Ingles was always in doubt given how many other decisions he had to worry about.
