All-Star guard Bradley Beal has agreed to a five-year, $251 million maximum contract to stay with the Washington Wizards, his agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN.

After opting out of the last year of his contract with the Wizards, he became an unrestricted free agent.

One of the NBA's best offensive shooting guards since the Wizards drafted him with the 3rd overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft is 29-year-old Bradley Beal.

During his 10-year career, Beal has averaged 22.1 points, 4.2 assists, 4.1 rebound, 2.2 three-pointers made and 1.1 steals per game.

He has been a good scorer, shooting 45.6% from the field and 38.2% from beyond the line.

When he averaged 30.5 points per game in the season that ended in March, it was the highest point total of his career.

He averaged 31.3 points in the next year and shot a career-best 48.5% from the floor. He made the All-NBA third team that year.

A wrist injury limited him to a career-low 40 games last season, as expectations were through the roof.

Even when he was on the field, he averaged 23.2 points and 1.6 three-pointers per game. He shot 30 percent from three-point range, his career worst.

The lack of help he had in Washington's backcourt was shown by the career-high 6.6 assists he averaged.

There was speculation that he would leave for greener pastures, even though he never asked for a trade or expressed a desire to leave.

The Wizards haven't enjoyed much success over the years, reaching the playoffs just once in the past four seasons and not winning a playoff series.

Despite that, Beal remains committed to making the Wizards a contender, and re-signing with the franchise is a move that could potentially lure in other quality players to Washington.
