A freak baseball injury may have led to the death of a baseball player.

According to a new medical examiner's report obtained by the celebrity gossip website, Giambi's demeanor changed after he was hit in the head with a baseball.

Giambi needed surgery for a fractured bone.

Giambi became very emotional after the injury and would let the smallest things ruin his day according to witnesses.

He was described as depressed and paranoid by another witness.

Giambi wasn't diagnosed with anything despite having scans and seeing a neurologist. Lab results showed he had no alcohol or drugs in his system when he died.

Giambi was found dead in his mother's house in February. USA Today reported that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.

Giambi played for four teams between 1998 and 2003 and two of them were with his brother.

He was portrayed in a movie by an actor.
