Bradley Beal has agreed to a five-year, $251 million maximum contract with the Washington Wizards, according to his agent.

He has been with the Wizards for 10 years and has now committed himself to the team for the rest of his life.

In 40 games for Washington last season, Beal averaged 23.2 points, 4.7 rebound and 6.6 assists, but he missed the entire season with a wrist injury. During the 2020-21 season, he averaged at least 30 points per game and 31.3 points per game.

The Wizards' top five all-time statistical categories include making and attempting the most 3-pointers in team history. He will be able to take aim at almost every statistical mark the franchise has.

Washington is hoping that the victories will accompany the milestones. After making the Eastern Conference semifinals three out of four years earlier in Beal's career, the Wizards have only made the playoffs once in the past four years.

The Wizards finished in 12th place in the East, eight games out of the 10th and final play-in tournament spot, last year, because of Bradley Beal's injury.

The Wizards will wait and see what Beal looks like with Kristaps Porzingis, who has yet to play a game with him.

The Wizards, under second year coach Wes Unseld Jr. and team president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard, added to the roster earlier this week by sending out guards Ish Smith and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in exchange for guards Monte Morris and Will Barton

The team's last four first round picks, including guard Johnny Davis, the 10th pick in this year's draft, could play a role.
