Justice Thomas cites debunked claim that Covid vaccines are made with cells from 'aborted children'

Justice Clarence Thomas supported a claim that all Covid vaccines are made with cells fromaborted children.

The Supreme Court decided against taking up the case of New York health care workers who objected to the state's vaccine mandate on religious grounds.

The health care workers object to the state's vaccine mandate because they were developed using cell lines from aborted children.

Fetal cell lines were used to test the effectiveness of Pfizer and Moderna's Covid vaccine. Fetal tissue came from abortions that took place decades ago. The original tissue isn't involved in the making of modern vaccines because the cells have replicated many times.

Fetal cell lines are not used to make Covid vaccines.

The vaccine contains genetic material that instructs our cells to make something to fight off the coronaviruses. They have substances that help cross our cell membranes, as well as salt, sugar, and a few other substances that help stabilizing the other ingredients.

Stem cells derived from cells collected from a fetus nearly 50 years ago were used in the testing of the vaccine.

Thomas cited the debunked claim while writing for the three Dissenting Justices.

The majority of justices decided not to take up the legal challenge brought by health care workers who objected to the state's vaccine mandate on religious grounds.

The requirement was first imposed in August of last year to help prevent the spread of the latest Covid variant. The religious exemption was taken away. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat and a Roman Catholic, said that she wasn't aware of any religious objections to vaccinations and that religious leaders were encouraging people to get them.

The health care workers said they had religious objections because fetal cell lines were involved in the development of Covid vaccines. The mandate allowed unvaccinated people to continue working.

The court should have taken the case according to Thomas and two other judges. Thomas wrote that the court should have taken the case now to head off confusion in the future, because there is still confusion about mandates like New York's.

Lawyers for the state said that the Covid mandate was similar to previous rules that required health care workers to be vaccine free. There are exemptions for medical reasons. They said in their submissions that the State doesn't need to give a blanket religious exemption from vaccinations.
