Digital collectibles support on Facebook has been launched by Meta. A small group of creators in the United States will be able to post digital collectibles on Facebook, according to a spokesman for Meta. The creators will be able to show off NFTs on their profiles under a new tab and the art will have a "digital collectibles" label.
The official launch comes a week after Meta's CEO said the company would be testing NFT support on Facebook. The test will allow creators to post on both platforms. The sharing feature on both platforms is coming soon, according to the spokesman.
Navdeep Singh is a product manager at Meta. If you click on the NFTs on your timeline, you'll see details about the collection and its creator, as well as other information.
At launch, NFTs were supported on the social network. It is possible that the same blockchains are supported on Facebook.
Meta is going to work on augmented reality NFTs, or 3D NFTs, that you can bring to Instagram Stories using the company's software augmented reality platform, according to Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Meta expanded its NFT test last week to allow more creators around the world to display their NFTs on the photo sharing site. The support was only available to creators in the US.
There won't be any fees for posting or sharing a digital collectible. The company won't be able to turn digital collectible posts into ads for now.
Meta is helping to reduce the emissions impact associated with digital collectibles by purchasing renewable energy as part of its commitment to sustainable practices.
