Justice Jackson is the first female African American Justice in the history of the United States. In April, Justice Jackson was confirmed to serve on the highest court in the land. The Senate voted to confirm every Senate Democrat. She said that it took just one generation to get from segregation to the Supreme Court. She was put through the wringer while being questioned on Capitol Hill during her confirmation hearing. As the days went on she kept her head high. Justice Jackson got emotional when Sen. Booker praised her record as a judge and promised to vote for her. The entire country is still feeling the effects of the SCOTUS' decision to overturn the Wade decision, and she's entered at a bad time. When the court returns after the summer, Justice Jackson will take her seat.
