Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane with the FA Cup
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane won the FA Cup and the League Cup with Liverpool last season

The Confederation of African Football's (Caf) Men's Player of the Year award will be decided in two years' time.

The Africa Cup of Nations final in February and the World Cup play-off in November were both won by Senegal, who beat Egypt in the play-offs.

At club level, the 30-year-olds won the FA Cup and League Cup in England last season but narrowly missed out on the title before the Reds lost to Real Madrid in the European Championship final

South Korea's Son Heung-min and Egypt's Mohamed Salah were both part of the group that won the Golden Boot.

The Player of the Season award was won by the Egyptian.

In the shape of Musa Barrow and Youssouf M'Changama, two of Africa's weaker nations, there is rare representation.

There are five nominees for the list, four of which are from Africa, including the reigning African champion, Senegal.

The first player to score eight goals at a single Nations Cup in over 50 years is also on the list.

The lists for Young Player and Coach of the Year were released.

The awards ceremony for the women's categories will be held on July 21st, just before the end of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Casablanca.

The lists were made by a panel of experts and journalists.

The winners of each category will be decided by a voting panel made up of Caf's technical committee, media professionals and head coaches and captains of member associations and clubs.
