Bobby Portis will decline his $4.6 million option and become a free agent, his agent said on Wednesday.
In Milwaukee, Portis has early bird rights. Bobby Marks said that Portis can sign for four years and 49 million dollars. The option cannot be included in the second year of the contract.
After helping the Bucks win a title, Portis became a free agent. He signed a two-year contract with the Brewers that included a player option in the second year.
Portis started 59 of the 72 games he played last season as a fill-in for Lopez. He shot 47.9% from the field and 39.3% from the 3-point range.
In the past two years in Milwaukee, Portis has started seven playoff games and averaged over fifteen points and eleven rebound per game.
