The Washington Commanders and wide receiver Terry McLaurin have agreed to a three-year contract extension.
A $28 million signing bonus is the largest given to any wide receiver, and 76.4% of the new money is guaranteed, according to the contract. One of the top five highest-paid wide receivers will be made by the deal.
The 76th pick in the football draft was taken by Washington. He became the team's top wideout in his first year with 58 catches for 912 yards and 7 scores.
The former Ohio State player had 87 catches for 1,118 yards and four touchdown in 2020. He had a 77/1,053/6 stat line in the next year.
Washington has locked him up for a long time, even though he was entering the final year of his contract.
After speaking with Ben Standig of The Athletic in February, head coach Ron Rivera made it clear that he wanted to keep him around.

According to Standig, other teams were interested in trading for McLaurin if extension talks broke down.
Teammates are looking at how the organization handles one of the faces of the franchise. "Other teams are keeping an eye on the situation."
According to the Washington Post, McLaurin sat out of the team's activities as contract talks continued.
