If you were worried that the real-life foam firing version of the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher would be disappointingly kid-sized, you can put that to rest.

Existing Gjallarhorn owners will be able to pre-order the blaster on July 7th at 10AM. If you want to purchase the prop-grade Nerf LMTD blaster, you need to unlocked it in-game before you can join the virtual waiting room. You have just over a week left. They will be put up for sale on July 21st if there are any remaining.

The price went up without explanation. Last December, it was announced that it was going to be $170. There is no estimate of when it will arrive. The previous Nerf product took a long time to arrive. Some are still on their way.

The Gjallarhorn shouldn't fire rockets that split into multiple darts. The designers have said on the website that you will see three Mega darts leave the barrel when you load a shell with them. Nerf physics and safety constraints are more important than firing off a rocket.

"With that shell, we're shooting three of those Mega darts at the same time, which gives that visual sense of the Wolfpack Rounds swirling and flying through the air towards your target." Three of those Mega shells and nine darts are given to you.

The reloading mechanism sounds great.

We wanted to integrate how it reloads in the game so the entire top housing of the Blaster itself shifts forward, it opens the loading bay just like it does in the game, you pop the shell in just like the animation, and then you pull it back and you’re ready to blast off a burst of three MEGA darts, which is super awesome. It’s the first time at NERF that we’ve ever done an easily reloadable MEGA dart shell that fires multiple MEGA darts at once.

Unfortunately, no photos or video of that mechanism in action have been provided by the two companies. They don't say how the mechanism works, and there's no hint of its power.
