The star from Ypsilanti, Michigan, released a list of six schools in early May, including Michigan, Arkansas, and others. He chose to return to his hometown and play for the Eagles, even though he was linked to other schools.
He was considered one of the best basketball players in the country during his high school career, but he reclassified last summer and ended up in the top three.
His high school recruitment was shrouded in mystery. He originally committed to Michigan State in the summer of 2020 and then reopened his recruitment in the spring of 2021. He committed to Memphis after changing his mind.
His season was not perfect. He missed 15 of 33 games because of a back injury and struggled on the floor. In the first three games of the season, he had at least 15 points, but he didn't reach that mark again the rest of the year.
The former Tiger averaged 9.7 points and 3.3 rebound per game.
He will play for Eastern Michigan, a team that hasn't reached the NCAA tournament since 1998. He has 12 years of major conference head coaching experience from his time at Arkansas and South Florida.
