One of the lowest prices for service and a single unlimited plan make Visible stand out from the crowd. There is a good chance that you have coverage since the Big Three carriers use one of their networks. You want to make sure the network you choose is able to handle the traffic that comes in. Most areas will likely get plenty of speed thanks to the strength of the network of the company.

The full speed of the network is available if the tower isn't crowded. The cost of the service has been lowered and it is easier to sign up.

There are no 3G or roaming options for Visible because they use the nationwide 5G network. Rural coverage may suffer as a result of this. For most people, Visible will be fast enough for day-to-day use, and many people may not notice a difference compared to their old carrier.

Visible Review: Will your phone work?

Everything you do on your Visible connection is done over data. All Visible phones need to support voice over internet protocol for calls. You will need to check your phone before you sign up for this feature. There's a good chance it will work if it's from the last few years.

RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU...

You can check your phone's IMEI before you sign up. You can buy a new phone from the online store if your phone isn't supported. One of the best phones for Visible can be bought and brought with you. If your phone is supported, you don't have to worry about setting it up.

I had no issues connecting or using the service after I got my phone activated. All settings were handled with no input from me.

Visible Review: What works well

Data usage on Android

The nail was hit on the head. I don't need unlimited data, but I love to have it. When I buy a new phone, I want to use it until the battery is dead and forget about data. Before Party Pay, Visible's plan offers unlimited talk, text, and calling for $40 per month. Call to Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are included.

AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon have the same unlimited plan, but each costs more and has less features. T-Mobile's Essentials plan costs $20 more per month with taxes and fees, but it has a slower internet connection.

There is also Visible Party Pay. If you join a party of other users, your monthly cost will be brought down to $25 per month. You can join a party from the website so you can finish the process in a few minutes. There is no reason not to join a visible party.

One of the best things about Visible's mobile hotspot is that it does not have a data cap but does have a 5Mbps speed limit. Standard definition video should work without a hitch, and standard browsing and social media should load quickly, even though you won't be streaming in high definition. If you want to stay connected on the go, Visible can help. You don't need to search for public wi-fi.

There is an Apple Watch plan for just $5 per month that can be used with this hotspot. You need an Apple Watch Series 4.

For most people in the country, it's good news that Visible relies on the network of the largest telecommunications company in the world. Most people will have excellent coverage and plenty of speed if they sign up for the service from the company. Even when I traveled between cities in my area, I always had a good signal on my phone.

Most of the time, speed tests showed downloads over 30Mbps. The upload speeds were often close to 30Mbps. If you're sending a picture or video to a friend, you shouldn't have to wait a long time. Quality of video calls can be improved by this. Video streaming works well for me if I drop the quality to 720p for 60 frames per second. It's not a hardship to have a high quality video on your phone.

If you have a compatible device, 5G is included. Your phone needs to support the 5G bands and be updated to work with the network. Even so, there's a chance your 5G device won't see the 5G network, but Visible supports most of the best phones.

You can get a free 15-day trial of Visible's network if you have an eSIM-equipped iPhone. It's better than nothing, but I would have liked to have seen this feature on the platform.

Visible Review: What falls short

Visible Speed Tests

(Image credit: Source: Samuel Contreras / Android Central)

There were times when my speeds plummeted to under 2Mbps. When a web page or video wouldn't load or load slowly, it was very noticeable, which is nice, but it's not a big deal. It would usually fix itself within a few minutes, but I felt that my connection was more important. Your speed may be slower than other traffic according to Visible.

I did not expect the ping times to be so large. The ping is the time between when your phone requests a connection and when you receive it. Some people are more sensitive to this than others. Home fiber connections tend to be under 5ms, while cable and DSL connections can be closer to 40ms.

I often saw over 150ms on Visible. For comparison, my AT&T and Mint mobile phones are under 50ms. I thought 5G might improve things a bit, but after finding a good place to connect to the 5G network, I found it to be very similar to the 4G network. It's still a very usable connection, but it's worth considering if you want to play a game online or use it to lower your internet speed.

Phone support is one of the last things to think about. You can find a list of compatible phones on the help page, but you still need to check it out before buying an unlocked phone. Many pre-paid customers aren't used to taking this step when they sign up.

Visible Review: The competition

One of the biggest competitors to Visible is Mint Mobile, with a variety of plans starting at just$15 per month.

The upfront cost of Mint Mobile is more expensive than buying an entire year of service. Mint Mobile will feel a bit more restrictive if you are going to switch carriers. Mint Mobile doesn't offer a truly unlimited plan, with its unlimited option only coming with 5 gigabytes of data and 35 gigabytes of usage.

Metro by T-Mobile has an unlimited plan that will work for most people. Save per line with each additional line, up to five, and still get access to a lot of data on the T-Mobile network. If you choose the $50 and $60 per month unlimited plan, you'll get 15 and 5 gigabytes of data, respectively.

US Mobile is a good alternative if you want to stick with the same network. You'll pay more for a single line if you choose the Unlimited Basic plan, but it's less expensive than the Visible plan. It's a match of $25 with three lines and $20 with four lines. The plan comes with 30 gigabytes of premium data on the network of the other company.

Visible Review: Should you sign up?

If you do, you should purchase this.

  • You need to use a lot of data

Data usage can stack up if you have a website that runs for a long time. You don't have to remember how much you use with Visible. All of your applications can be updated automatically. If you put the videos in the background, you can watch them in full resolution. If you don't want to waste your home internet data on background video streams, or if you spend a lot of time away from wi-fi, Visible eliminates data usage worries.

  • You don't want contracts or extra fees

Fees and taxes are included in the price of the plan. No contract or commitment is required. You can just stay for a month and watch what you want. While other carriers will lure you in with a low price before tacking on a bunch of small fees, Visible keeps it simple and includes these fees with the plan's cost.

  • You have a compatible phone, or are ready for a new one

You need a compatible phone to sign up for Visible. While the majority of iPhone users are lucky with just about every device working, it's not always the case with the rest of the world. Some of the best phones you can get, like the S22 series, are compatible with the newer phones. If you have a compatible device, you can try out Visible without a contract if you have a sim card.

If you buy this, you shouldn't.

  • You need a premium data experience

The fact that your data is less important than a postpaid phone is not something that can be changed. There are times when you won't be able to stream in HD and will have to wait longer for downloads, but the data experience will keep up with normal usage. At peak performance, Visible may not be the right answer for you. If your area has a lot of capacity, you won't notice a slowdown.

  • You need roaming of any kind

Roaming isn't supported by Visible. Before you sign up for a phone service, make sure you check coverage in all the places you plan to visit.

It makes sense for people who want to forget about data caps to use Visible. It's a good fit for someone who needs to get connected on a budget with only one line. Trips through the countryside can see some dropped connections if you don't use a supported phone.

It's clear that many people like the idea of visible, as there are many imitations springing up. Most of the weaknesses with Visible's service will be fixed in time, as more phones come with full support for the digital network and 5G alleviates the burden on the data network. It's possible to make the most of your new phone by letting your data usage become an issue.
