On July 1st, TweetDeck will be shutting down. I rely on the app for my job as a news writer, and I was sad to hear that it was going away. If you're looking for a replacement, you should definitely check out the site. I downloaded it a day or two after it was announced that there would be no longer.

It's like a version of the popular social networking site, TweetDeck. Like the official power user app of the social network, Tweeten lets you do things like make columns of different types so that you can plug into the matrix. I think this layout will look familiar if you've ever used TweetDeck.

Glorious columns.

There are some things I like better than the native app. You can adjust the app in the settings menu. I think Tweeten's notifications are more powerful. You can set things like which corner of the screen they appear in and how long they stay visible, as well as liking and retweeting a post.

An example Tweeten notification.

There are a few small issues with the person. I sometimes run into a bug where notifications appear in the middle of my screen after I plug my Macbook Air back into my monitor, and I think it's because it looks nicer. When my co-workers started talking about it in Slack this morning, I forgot that I was opening up Tweeten instead of TweetDeck every morning. There is a permanent spot on my MacBook.

If you want to get it as a chrome extension, you can download it for free. You can still use the app on the web if you like it.
