The percentage of people who were extremely or very proud to be American was down from the previous year but up from a record-low in 2020.

A record low of 42% of Republicans were proud to be American, compared to 32% of Independents and 26% of Democrats.

Men were more proud to be American than women were.

More than 80% of people aged 55 or older were extremely or very proud of their nationality, compared to less than half of people aged 35 to 54 and less than a third of people aged 18 to 34.

A record high of 70% of those who were extremely proud to be American was reported in 2003 and a record high of 9% of those who were extremely proud was reported in 2004.

After the fatal shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde, the Gallup survey was taken from June 1 to June 20.
