aptX Lossless is coming to its first pair of earbuds and promises to stream CD-quality audio without any loss of audio detail. The NuraTrue Pro true wireless earbuds are the work of Australian audio company Nura and are currently being funded on a crowd funding platform with early bird prices starting at $199 and a regular retail price of $329.
They are the first earbuds with aptX Lossless. Lauren Miller said that there will be many more devices with support for aptX Lossless. aptX Lossless is one of the features of the overall audio platform but not all of the devices support it.
There's a note on crowd funding.
The field of crowd funding is chaotic. One in 10 successful products that reach their funding goals fail to deliver rewards, according to a study done by Kickstarter. There is often disappointment in store for those products that do get done because of delays, missed deadlines, and overpromised ideas.
Use your best judgement when defending. Do you know if the product looks legit? The company is making claims. There is a prototype that is being worked on. Is the company planning on manufacturing and shipping finished products? Is this the first time it has completed a crowd funding campaign? You don't necessarily buy a product when you back a project on a site.
There are no devices currently shipping with this feature so you won't find source devices that support it. As well as a device that supports aptX Lossless, your music will also need to be CD quality or higher in order to get the most benefit.
aptX Lossless will be able to stream CD-quality, 16-bit / 44.1kHz audio over a wireless network, according to the company. According to James, the audio your headphones receive should be "mathematically bit-for-bit exact, with no loss of the audio file."
In addition to their support of aptX Lossless, the NuraTrue Pro support active noise cancellation, spatial audio, multipoint connectivity, and the ability to use either earbud independently. Up to eight hours of music can be played from the buds themselves or up to 32 hours with the case on. Nura's sound personalization feature, which it first introduced on its original pair of over- ear headphones, is back for the Nura True Pro.
In August, Nura expects mass production of the NuraTrue Pro to begin.
