The rocky development and chaotic launch of Truth Social was caused by the company's decision not to use an Amazon server.

A source told the news agency that Donald Trump's media group used Amazon Web Services early in its development, but then abandoned them for ideological reasons.

In an SEC filing in May, Trump Media & Technology Group said it was founded to fight tech companies with "woke ideology" such as Amazon, which banned the conservative app Parler.

The launch of Truth Social in February was more shambolic because of the decision to stop using Amazon server.

Before it stopped using the Amazon server, Trump Media was having a hard time recruiting software engineers.

In the months leading up to its launch, the company's lack of tech talent caused a lot of problems.

The release of the app was beset by problems including a lengthy waiting list and limitedFunctionality.

Its original content and user engagement continued to lag behind rivals even after the initial problems had been fixed.

The Trump Media CEO said on the eve of the launch that he expected the app to be fully operational by March but its direct messaging function is still not available to users.

The company did not reply.
