The leader of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission asked Apple and Google to remove TikTok from their app stores because of China- related data security concerns.

The hugely popular short video app is owned by a Chinese company.

Brendan Carr, one of the FCC's Commissioners, sent a letter to Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai. There were reports that made TikTok non- compliant with the policies of the companies.
